things about making a skate video
1. The first couple months of a new project. Enthusiasm is high, ideas are fresh, and getting footage is easy.
2. The finished product. Putting in hundreds of hours with your friends to create something you’ll always look back on and realize just how much fucking fun you had.
3. Premieres are fun
4. Getting your scene on the map!

least favorite things about making a skate video

1. Stressing over skateboarding?
2. Not being motivated to film
3. Not being motivated to edit
4. Not being motivated in general

things about having brothers who skate
1. Not many lone sessions
2. Half the driving time
3. You can tell them that that trick sucked or don’t want to film them and they won’t get offended unlike your friends.
4. Is there four good reasons?

skate tricks
1. f/s 5-0’s in tranny
2. I like b/s 180 nosegrinds
3. Flatground switch flips
4. Long ass 5-0 fakies

spots to not skate at
1. Heinz
2. McKinley in the dead of summer. Ground turns into tar.
3. Milliones. Probably Pittsburgh's best spot but I skate that place way too much
4. Atwood

things about working for UPMC
1. UPMC
2. Can
3. Suck
4. It. They shut my school down

reasons Rebuilding Mexico is not on DVD
1. We don’t actually own a copy ourselves
2. “What’s Rebuilding Mexico?” (I don’t want to have to explain that to anyone)
3. Kickers were a huge part of our life
4. Loading docks were a huge part of our life

things about having a mini ramp
1. Best warm up spot ever
2. BBQ’s and ramp jams in the summer days
3. Skating and not having to ollie is something I am appreciating more and more
4. Neighborhood kids using it as some sort of jungle gym

reasons not to film someone
1. I’d rather be skating
2. “Film this for throwaway”. Not real big into documenting every trick you’ve ever done
3. If “I might get lucky” is uttered. Just let me know if or when you’re close
4. I’m hungry

ways to beat Zach in SKATE

1. No- complys!
2. Anything not basic switch
3. Anything not basic nollie
4. He’ll still end up beating me

memories from the Bolts and Buttah premiere
1. We found out there was no projector with 10 minutes till the premiere. Jerry Cooper miraculously pulls one out of thin air and we get it hooked up as people are rolling in. Thank you Jerry for everything.
2. Drew Windon facing backwards and cheering for things he was definitely not seeing. Drew had a great time.
3. Doug Plezia getting a well deserved nod on ONEUP
4. Everybody that came out to support!

welcome to two thousand hate

a new year is upon us and if you're into random folklore, religiousity, or the like you might know that the number 8 is supposed to mark new beginnnings, which i feel is a good thing... in most situations. On that note here are some random bits of noteworthy information that have occurred in the past few weeks.

The new skatepark in South Park is completed and if you can manage to be there during nap time, snack time, or during a marathon of spongebob episodes, you might actually be able to get a couple runs in while the toddlers are at home with other distractions. The park itself is pretty awesome. It's definitely my favorite in the area, but that could change if the cops decide to start ticketing for no helmets or if they start not unlocking the park out of general apathy. That one kills me. Skateboarders will skate no matter how bad the weather is. We'll shovel out a spot, sweep the puddles so they'll dry faster, and generally fix a spot so we can skate it, but people who don't skate will just look outside and assume that inclement weather is too much of a liability for people to actually be outside having fun. Utter brilliance.

The mini ramp at Greg, Henry, and Chris's screen shop is well under way. This spot will host video premieres, art shows, and random get togethers in the future, but for now they're just trying to get a solid start going. More to come on that later.
On a down note, Justin Funk recently suffered a broken arm, and from the description I heard, it was pretty beastly. Send all well wishings, flowers, skate videos, and whathaveyous to www.hccrew.com or wherever they live out in the berry area.

Speaking of the Funks, a crew of them plus Austin, Drew, Matt Sylvester, and a few others are hopping down there for Tampa Am. Best of luck to all of them and anyone else going down there to rep ze burgh.

That's all I got for now.

hc crew

7 plys of love is now available at skateshops and also from their website. the video is ridiculously good. I am pretty against the idea of paying $15 for a posse video, but the way I see it if the kids in the posse are "laying it down" like these guys are, then it's definitely okay.
