Greg P. tells all

What made you want to move the shop and why did you choose southside?

We moved the shop because it was getting tough on space at Timebomb and it was time to go. We had to move to keep growing as a business and our movement needs a place of its own. Timebomb helped us grow as a business because so many more people were exposed to One Up being there as two stores in one. Also our movements are quite similar. We know what goes on in the streets, cause we're part of it, not cause we're trying to get rich of it, but because we love it

How did you end up sharing a space with Time Bomb?

One up started in 2003 at 885 skatepark and was rolling good until the demise of the park and the goof that ran it, Glenn. Me and Jerry showed up for work one day and the park was closed. It was pretty much of nowhere. We had a feeling it was going bad, but it wasn't talked about much. I think pretty much me and Jerry smoked an el and said fuck, what are we gonna do? We called Brick and at the time he was going through it too kind of, so we joined forces and both got our lives right as Brick would say.

What other changes, besides location can we expect in the near future?

As far as changes go, I don't see too many. We will have a website starting up this month at www.oneuppgh.com. It will have a shop news page for inventory updates and a media page for all of our contributing photographers and filmers. So you'll get to see a couple different views, which is good.

Will you be picking up new brands along with your new location?

As far as new brands go, people are just gonna have to come by and see for themselves. There are a lot of haters and biters and I'm not gonna give anything up for them to eat.

What is going on with the shop's "team"? and who all still rides for One Up?

The shop is going well. We have three generations from Pittsburgh ripping together from Jerry , Nick, HAnk, Jerms , Drew ,Austin and Zach . We got us older dudes and the hccrew, your posse of rippers, and last but least is gonna be the GOONIES. It's the name of our JV squad. We gotta a couple out there already, but were gonna turn em into a gang of little kid rippers that fuck shit up.

How fucked is Carson St. now that One Up's on the block?

Carson street is fucked for three reasons:
1. THE MAYO GANG
2. WILD BILL
3. WE LIKE TO PARTY!

Do you have any plans coming up for Pittsburgh skateboarders, any video premieres, contests, skate jams or anything

We want to start to film for a oneUP vid and to travel as soon as weather breaks. We are looking to do a little vid with the Nocturnal bros if a certain beverage company comes through for the boys. Also we're lookin at renting a space in Philly this summer for the squad. I think traveling at a young age is what these guys need. It brings confidence and exposure to them. You can't get a much better time than spending a summer in Philly. Lots of people come in and out of town and skating with the Nocturnal bros is always fun. Look out for Focus vid; Drew Windon, Austin Kanfoush, And Zach Funk have a part in it as well as a Pittsburgh part. Also, Look out for Henry Panza in a Traffic vid late 08, heavy gear from Direction East and Oneup . come thru and represent! peace.
